2011 – THE NEED
Spring/Autumn Fundraising for the Dutton Family.
This Spring or Autumn (depending on where in the planet you are) we are creating a project for people to partner with us in ministry. As you know we are volunteers and so all of our income come from individuals who partner with us either monthly, quarterly or yearly, as well as many who give in one off times of need – all of which seem to arrive when we most need it – isn’t God faithful!
As we plan for 2011, we are in need of replacing and raising our support to continue in what God has called us to be apart of here in YWAM Kona. We have seen so many miracles in the area of provision, just like this year with our trip to Mexico and Australia. This trip was so beyond us financially and yet within a one week period the entire amount was given in cash and airline miles! We saw God provide for a basic need of dental work (cavities and a fractured tooth:( We were both in pain and had to have the work done so we put it on our credit card. That night someone walked up and gave us $1000 which covered pretty much all of it. Even the kids have seen God provide for them for clothes, free Disneyland tickets for three days as well as little prayer projects for toys that they like!
In 2011 we have another area where we need a miracle in the area of housing. This this is not a one off but a monthly payment and we need to see our monthly income rise to meet the challenge before us. We have lived on the campus now for over a year; it has been a tremendous blessing and our children really enjoy living here but we feel for our longer term health and growth in responsibilities and as the children grow the space is getting quite small. (We live in 2 hotel size rooms with our bedroom in a 4 ft high loft space).
Why are we in Kona you ask, when so much of the world is “out there”? YWAM – University of the Nations Kona has a rich history of God building a campus here that would be a stepping stone for people to be trained a equipped and sent into the nations. Here is some of what we have done in the past 12 months alone.
- Sending into All the world. – This past year we have sent over 700 people in teams to over 55 nations, some of which included, Nth Korea, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Samoa, Australia, Fiji, Rwanda, Morocco, South Africa, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Kosovo, Albania, Croatia, Norway, France, Poland, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and many others. We have a mandate to be building the kingdom with partners who reside currently in these locations as well as going where the Body of Christ has not yet gone to. Starting new works for the Kingdom in regions where the gospel has never been.
- Training in Every Sphere of Society. We are working in the seven Spheres of society and the major influences in every nation, city, home. We currently have courses and seminars in each of the 7 spheres, but the need is great so we continue to develop training and equipping for people who want to know God’s ways in whatever profession God calls them into. Last year we have seen over 1100 people trained and equipped, the goal is to see over 4000 a year coming through our doors and sent out into the nations. To be a place that will disciple and equip people for effective ministry no matter where God calls them. The Seven Spheres are: Family, Education, Media, Arts, Business, Religion, Science and Technology.
- Kona is a strategic place for the equipping of the next generation. It is currently the largest Campus for the University of the Nations and is a melting pot for many Christian leaders to gather and equip people for the great Commission.
Andrew’s current role on the Campus is part of the Team 3 leadership over the whole ministry and also the Director of Training. Andrew oversees all of the schools which currently are offered and as is responsible for the multiplication of courses and development of the schools and staff.
First and foremost everything we do is focused on sending out many more into the world so that the gospel is shared everywhere just like we did our trips to Mexico and China and secondly to disciple people for the work of God in every sphere. Join us, become a partner and help us train and equip others and to continue to ‘Go’ ourselves. It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in discipling and equipping the coming generation.

As we enter into 2011 we are sending out the call for more partners to join with us. It has been a fruitful past 3 years here in Kona but as we prepare for the future it is clear that we need to raise our monthly support to over $3500 a month. Most of our current support goes to 3 major monthly expenses 1, Housing ($1200), Health Insurance ($700) and Kids education ($250). Currently we are just over $2000USD a month so as you can see we have a gap to meeting our other day to day expenses (petrol, food, clothing etc).
Join us as we push into the next season. We know God called us here back at the beginning of 2008, it was a amazing time of seeing doors open and confirmation of Gods call even in the midst of re-establishing ourselves in a new location. We are expecting great growth as we have spent the last few years preparing the ground for what God has for our future; Kona is far stronger now, with many other godly leaders joining us. In the past 3 years, we together feel that God has been using us to prepare the ground and lay the foundation for what he has ahead.

Our goal is $1500 more a month by the end of this year, this will enable us to have a much healthier housing environment as well as greater stability as we lead the work out here in Kona. As we have this, we become more effective in doing our part in the equipping and discipling of the 1200+ students that will join us in the next 12 months.
